Tsunami Waves Hit Hawaii

The quake that stroke Japan’s North East today (8.9 degrees on the Richter scale) has caused tsunami waves to hit Hawaii. Kauai Island was the first one that received the impact, according to reports from the Tsunami Warning Center Pacific in Hawaii, the tsunami waves quickly spread to other U.S. islands in the Pacific.
Authorities informed that 1.8-meter waves could hit Hawaii. Thanks to the previous preparation for the tsunami, roads and beaches were empty at the time the waves arrived.
Inhabitants of the coastal area of Hawaii were moved to safe places in schools and community centers, while tourists in Waikiki were taken to the upper floors of their hotels.
