Ecuadornews:
Twelve former opposition lawmakers, including a former PAIS militant (Oswaldo Larriva), met again yesterday. The major goal, they said, is the fight against corruption.
After enrolling in the “Collective of former legislators for democracy and against corruption,” they demanded Attorney General Carlos Baca Mancheno to immediately link Vice President Jorge Glas in the process against Ricardo Rivera (his uncle). Moreover, they request the immediate issuance of precautionary measures to prevent Glas from “fleeing” the country. The announcement was made by Pachakutik’s former legislator Lourdes Tibán.
“If Attorney General Baca Mancheno is not willing to do what he has to do, then, he shall leave office and allow the institutionality to work so that there is transparency, justice, and reparation in Ecuador,” said César Montúfar, of the Concertación party.
Meanwhile, Cléver Jiménez, an independent former legislator and activist, announced that they would ask the Prosecutor’s Office to “dust off” the allegations of acts of corruption that would have been committed during the ten-year government of Rafael Correa. (I)
