UK will not cooperate with Ecuador to resolve Assange´s case
The United Kingdom “categorically” rejected to promote “a positive bilateral relationship” with Ecuador until the Julian Assange´s case is resolved, revealed in London on June 20, 2016 Chancellor Guillaume Long.
Long expressed his “disappointment” after this position, in a press conference after meeting with British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Hugo Swire, who raised the possibility of cooperating bilaterally, “apart from Assange´s case” in trade, education and humanitarian aid.
The relationship between the two countries has deteriorated since Ecuador granted political asylum to WikiLeaks founder, who took refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy in London on June 19, 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden. Julian Assange faces charges of sexual assault.
