Yesterday in Guayaquil was held the II extraordinary meeting of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), which aimed to review the information on the electoral mission that will observe the sectional elections of February 23 in Ecuador and the considerations for the delegation that will attend the elections in Colombia in March and May.
Representatives of the electoral functions from the twelve countries, were working, not only to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the process, but to check the advance of the recommendations made in the last presidential election.
According to Domingo Paredes, President of the National Electoral Council, 70% of the suggestions have been overcome such as the inclusive vote and the training of the members of the polling stations.
The mission is not to be a judge or a prosecutor of the electoral process; UNASUR is willing to listen to the political and social actors and participate in the electoral drill.
