Universities in D category question Ceaaces report

Carlos Cedeno and members of Universidad de Guayaquil
Last Thursday the universities in Category D questioned the report of the Board of Assessment, Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (Ceaaces) entity that started the last ladder.
Last Wednesday Ceaaces presented the results of a new evaluation process for educational centers. In this report, eight of 54 academic institutions were grouped in the category D to record the “performance values and far below the system average in all evaluation criteria.”
The universities involved are Guayaquil, Agraria del Ecuador, Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabi, Estatal del Sur de Manabi, Tecnica de Machala, Tecnica Luis Vargas Torres, Catolica de Cuenca y de Otavalo.
The principle of the University of Guayaquil, Carlos Cedeno, stressed that the institution rejects the decision applied by Ceaaces for the “their lack of objective in the quantitative assessments.”
Cedeno said that the university did not have enough to invest in the areas of research and teachers with PhD degree capital. “We recognize that we have related failures, among other things, the chronic shortage of funds.”
