Ecuadornews:

Having an academic degree, in times of economic recession, is not an armor that can save a person from losing or from swelling the ranks of underemployment.
The Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil points out that there are 1.66 million Ecuadorians unemployed, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC).
The Chamber underlines that the rate of underemployment recorded in June this year (20.5%) is the second highest figure since 2007. The highest figure was reached in the previous quarter (March 2017) with a level of 21,4%.
The city of the country with the highest underemployment rate is Guayaquil, in one year the increase was 6.8 percentage points. (I)
