About 250 representatives and specialists of 32 American countries, including the United States, attended today at Havana a technical meeting in order to exchange views on strategies against Ebola and coordinate actions to prevent the virus expansion.
This two-day conference was convened nine days ago by the presidents of the ALBA countries.
The representative of the United States, Nelson Arboleda said: “We are willing to cooperate with all the actors who are working in the region to ensure that we have an effective global response to this virus.”
“Through the Pan American Health Organization we are ensuring that all our activities are coordinated in an appropriate and efficient manner,” said Arboleda, Director for Central America of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the US government.
The program includes a visit to the Institute of Tropical Medicine “Pedro Kouri,” where professionals that are part of the brigade of Cuban health partners that will participate in the fight against Ebola are trained.
