Vatican delegation does not reveal details on abuse cases
Given the historic presence of the Vatican before the United Nations to address the issue of child abuse and provide vital information on the investigated cases and those responsibles, several organizations were disappointed after the lack of clarity by the members of the delegation of the Holy Headquarters.
After discussing the various prevention policies and protocols that the Vatican has launched to stop such crimes, including the creation of a special commission by Pope Francisco, to prevent them, the abuse continues to occur and the delegation of the Vatican emphasized that child abuse is something of the past.
The pontiff said yesterday in his daily morning homily that people have to feel “shame” for the scandals within the Church.
For its part, Sara Oviedo, principal investigator on human rights of the Committee inquired the delegation about the “alarming” frequency at which religious “abusers” are transferred to other areas, rather than surrendered to the police.
