Venezuela: Minor student killed during protests in Tachira
The Venezuelan Attorney’s office announced yesterday the death of a 14 year old minor in a demonstration in San Cristobal after being shot in the head, and announced that three prosecutors have been appointed to clarify what happened.
A statement from the prosecutor indicates that the young Klivert Roa, a student at a high school, received a bullet in his head during a demonstration in the San Cristobal worker´s neighborhood, in the Tachira state, and was taken to Central Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
The Venezuelan Attorney charged the member of the Bolivarian National Police, Javier Mora Ortiz (23), “for alleged links” with the death of the student, reported the prosecution in a statement.
Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro condemned the death of the student. “We condemn this and I send my condolences to the family of this boy, who was killed in an act of violence,” said in his radio and television program.
He added that those responsible are imprisoned and justice will now establish the truth of what happened. “This has to call us to reflect,” he said.
