Vicuña acknowledges the contributions but says they were voluntarily and says that her accuser wanted to extort money
The Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador, María Alejandra Vicuña, held a press conference (in which she did not accept questions) to defend herself against the accusations of an ex-adviser that involved her in alleged undue charges when the official was an assembly member.
It is the former consultant identified as Ángel Sagbay who, with an affidavit, charges her with alleged charges. For the second president said statement is alie so she said she will take the necessary legal actions.
According to the vice president, Sagbay, who has been a militant and leader of theAlianza Bolivariana Alfarista and Alianza PAIS in his province, and who also”until recently” publicly supported the management of the Vice Presidency and the government, she is amazed that “just in these conjunctures make this statement sworn from lies.”
“Mr.Sagbay since September threatened to forge this complaint if we did not comply with the demands of public office, particularly Governor of the province of Morona Santiago, provincial director of IESS in this province. But as we do not give in to this blackmail, to this extortion today these slanders are made public, “added Vicuña in his defense.
Vicuña has exhibited as proof of her assertions some alleged chats he did not show.
Indirect relation to the accusations, the vice president said that “nobody has ever conditioned neither income nor permanence, and least of all their job stability to pay even a single penny. All the contributions for Alianza Bolivariana Alfarista and for Alianza PAIS, we have done it, and I even, infulfillment of our duties as militants, within the framework of what the Code of Democracy itself establishes. The contributions have always been transparent, there are no contributions below the table. We are financed by the bank, neither by the power groups, nor by Odebrecht. “
Vicuña has accused of being behind the denunciation to the former candidate for the vice-presidency by CREO, the ex-legislator Andrés Páez, and the”correístas”. “There is the origin of the extortion, long before the media show last night. That is why I will present the respective complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office. ” (I)
