Web platform of tsunami warning is proven

A web platform, designed by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) , was simultaneously proven in tsunami warning centers of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile, with a tidal wave simulation in which no there was participation of coastal communities.

The Director of the Oceanographic Institute of the Navy (INOCAR), Humberto Gómez, said that the electronic platform will be used in a short term to unify the procedures, with the new products of the Tsunami Warning Center of the Pacific, which will start operating from October 1.

During the simulation, the preparation level of that system was essesed and its operating lines of communication and procedures were checked.

According to Gómez, there was no participation or coastal evacuations in any country because it was an internal interagency exercise.
