YASunidos abandons its “legal struggle” in Ecuador
Posted On 10 Jul 2014
Last Wednesday in a letter sent to Ecuadorians, with a copy to the Constitutional Court (CC) and other law enforcement agencies, the environmental group YASunidos, which promoted a referendum to prevent the oil exploitation of ITT fields in National Yasuni Park, reported on its decision to leave its “legal struggle” in Ecuador.
In the letter the activists explained that the main reason for their decision is the “total distrust” in Ecuadorian justice.
Because of that YASunidos will continue the fight on international bodies such as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN).
