140,000 tourists visited Ecuador in 2014
According to the Ministry of Tourism, about 1.55 million travelers entered the country in 2014.
In 2013, the figure was 1 364 057. In percentage terms, this translates into an increase of 14% from one year to another.
Most tourists came from Colombia. They are followed by US travelers and Peruvian travelers. It is also recorded in the Top 10 of foreign visitors the entry of tourists from Spain, Cuba and Germany.
Pichincha leads as the most visited province, followed by Guayas and Santa Elena. The Galapagos Islands, considered one of the greatest tourist attractions worldwide, occupy the tenth place.
In 2013 tourism revenues accounted USD 1 251.3 million; in 2014 that figure bordered USD 1 600 million.
