Copa America: Antonio Valencia Will Not Play Against Brazil
Posted On 12 Jul 2011
Striker Antonio Valencia will not be playing against Brazil in Copa America after the match between Ecuador and Uruguay (0-0). During that game Valencia suffered a blow in his left ankle, the same one he broke on September 2010 while playing for the Manchester United.
Patricio Maldonado, the Ecuadorian team doctor, informed to the press that the pain and swelling of Valencia’s ankle has not receded. For that reason the famous player will not be able to play against Brazil in the upcoming match of Copa America.
The Ecuadorian team is the last team of Group B, and it must defeat the Brazilian team to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament. Until Valencia does not feels any pain in his left ankle he will be on the bench. (AV)
