Electric Subside is Valid, says Conelec Executive Director
Yesterday, Judge Mariela Zunino officially suspended the resolution taken by the National Electric Council (Conelec) that plans to eliminate the electric subside for those that consume more than 700 kilowatts per hour in the Coast and 500 Kilowatts per hour in the Highlands each month.
However the Executive Director of Conelec, Francisco Vergara appealed to the decision in the Provincial Court of Guayas. The Minister of Electricity, Esteban Albornoz, supported the appealing of Vergara by adding that the increase on the electric bill will continue.
According to Albornoz the decision taken by judge Zunino has no basis, since the action done by Bucaram is related to the resolution of June 9 and the current one belongs to June 24. (AV)
