A group of Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi Students have joined in a hunger strike so that the Government gives college the resources it is requiring. The demonstration is a solidarity act towards Hernan Yanez, principal of the University and Marcelo Rivera, president of Federacion de Estudiantes Universitarios del Ecuador (FEUE)—Ecuador University Students Federation—.

The group of students (15 people) has not eaten a thing in 15 days and even with medical care assistance, complications are already arising. “Some of them have had to abandon the strike urgently but authorities (local and judicial) have not done anything,” said Sandra Gallardo, president of FEUE in Cotopaxi.
