Taxpayers may benefit from the 100% remission of SRI debt penalty charges
Until today taxpayers who have debts with the Internal Revenue Service (SRI for its Spanish acronym) (interests, penalties and surcharges) may benefit from the 100% remission of these additional payments under the Remission Law.
Those interested must cancel the total debt capital to be exempted from the charges. This also applies to the fines generated by unfulfilled obligations, which do not involve the payment of taxes (as submitting the financial statement). In these cases the individual may submit the pending statement requesting the application of the Act to be free of the fine.
The construction sector can apply the compensation of its debts using the mechanism of the Central Bank Securities (TBC).
Ximena Amoroso, director of SRI, reported that in the first 58 days of the enforcement of the law, until Monday, July 27, $ 764 million were raised from payments made by 978,000 taxpayers. Of that total, 110,000 are taxpayers within the Ecuadorian Simplified Taxation System (RISE), who canceled debts between 2 and 200 dollars.
