A special Protection for threatened officials

Posted On 07 Jun 2017

Ecuadornews:

Prosecutors and judges in charge of cases of organized crime, drug trafficking, and anti-corruption will receive more protection. This is the first government measure adopted after constant threats against their lives and their families.
To protect them, there will be a security protocol approved yesterday by Judge Gustavo Jalkh, Interior Minister César Navas, and Attorney General Thania Moreno.

Jalkh said that security will be guaranteed for prosecutors and judges so that they do their work. But he clarified that there is no pretext for any kind of threat or complexity of the case that may justify negligence. “All security guarantees will be given,” he added (I).
